Yvonne Maurice
Yvonne Maurice, from Pinehouse Lake, is an Aboriginal Elder and documentary photographer. Her work aims to capture the traditions of her community in order to preserve cultural teachings. She photographs such cultural practices as net setting, preparing fish, identifying plants, cooking bannock on a stick and harvesting a garden. She also photographs the natural enviroment and community celebrations, and aims to improve quality of life and respect for the Elders.
